Red Bank, NJ, July 28, 2014 (Newswire.com) - On July 28, 2014, the New Jersey Law Journal formally announced that attorney Joshua Kincannon is a recipient of one of this year’s New Leaders of the Bar awards. Admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 2000, Joshua Kincannon has established himself as an authority within the mass tort community. He has represented hundreds of plaintiffs and recovered millions of dollars on behalf of victims of defective medical device implants.
Every year, the New Jersey Law Journal presents the prestigious New Leaders of the Bar award to a select group of New Jersey attorneys under the age of 40. Criteria for the selection of these rising stars include demonstrated leadership qualities, expertise in litigation, charitable volunteer work, and other factors that exemplify the ways that these attorneys stand out among their peers.
I honestly can't express how humbled I am to receive this award. Having a job where I am able to help seriously injured victims and families is extraordinarily rewarding for me, and this recognition is icing on the cake. Special thanks to my family for their support, and my colleagues and support staff for all they do. I share this honor with them.
Joshua S. Kincannon, Esq.
Joshua Kincannon currently practices with the law firm Keefe Bartels, located in Red Bank, New Jersey. His practice focuses primarily on defective medical device implants, product liability, and personal injury cases.
In 2002, Josh was given a products liability case involving an elderly woman with a failed knee implant. He investigated the implant and felt that the latent defect existed in certain components that affected many more patients. This case was the driving force behind the creation of the defective medical device implant mass tort department at Keefe Bartels and the defectivejoints.com website, which was created to inform and educate clients injured by faulty or defective medical implants.
At a time when other firms were not investigating the Artelon CMC Spacer, Josh created a “mini mass tort” for this device and filed dozens of individual cases. After years of delays, denials, and obfuscation, the manufacturer declared bankruptcy and settled all cases. Because of Josh’s efforts, thousands of patients will be spared the implantation of the Artelon CMC spacer. Josh was appointed as one of the leaders of the Depuy ASR hip implant litigation in the New Jersey Multi-County Litigation. These cases settled four years after the device was recalled. At present, the settlement is valued at $2.5 billion. Josh is presently involved in the Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Implant Litigation, where he was appointed by the court to the Plaintiffs’ Science Committee.
When he is not representing victims in court, Joshua Kincannon is dedicated to performing charitable work. He has organized a canned food drive for the less fortunate in Camden, NJ, and was a volunteer teacher at the Leap Charter School in Camden. Keefe Bartels works with a local charity known as Lunch Break; Josh sponsors children for the holidays every year.
“Josh’s tenacity, eagerness, and enthusiasm towards his work is evident in the results he produces for his clients. He is passionate about educating the public on the hazards of defective medical device implants and the avenues of discovery to improve the quality of life,” explained John E. Keefe, Jr., Co-Managing Member of Keefe Bartels.
